New Faculty Guide

Welcome to CalArts! Use this checklist to prepare your CalArts account, courses, classroom technology, and files.

Before your start date

1. Activate your CalArts account and register at login.calarts.edu. See How Do I Register My Account?
2. Confirm that CalArts email, Duo, and the Hub work.
3. Report a missing account or access problem to CAIT; do not share passwords or authentication codes.

Before your first class

• Open Canvas and confirm that your assigned courses appear. Start with the Canvas Faculty Quick Start Guide.
• Review Navigating Your Course, Adding Content, and Add Your Own Syllabus.
• Check links, due dates, files, and student view. Review Designing for Accessibility.

Classroom readiness

Test the assigned room before the first class. Confirm display, audio, camera, microphone, adapters, and Zoom when needed. Report the room and equipment affected when requesting help.

Faculty systems and grading

• Use the Hub, Hub Time, and Self Service guide.
• See Class Roster Photos and Submit Grades.
• Before the deadline, verify Canvas grades and submit official grades through the required CalArts process.
