A syllabus in Canvas can help you communicate your course goals, organization, and policies to potential and current students during the semester. You can also set the syllabus as your course home page.
This article will show you two methods to add your syllabus content to Canvas. It is suggested you copy and paste your syllabus to take advantage of accessibility features in Canvas.
Copying and Pasting Your Syllabus
1. Open your Canvas course and click Syllabus in the course navigation.
2. Click the Edit button to edit the syllabus.
3. You can copy content from Word documents and paste into the Rich Content Editor or create original content inside of the Rich Content Editor.
4. When you are complete, click Update Syllabus at the bottom of the page.
Inserting a Link to a Course Document (.PDF or .DOCX)
1. Open your Canvas course and click Syllabus in the course navigation.
2. Click the Edit button to edit the syllabus.
3. Click the File icon in the Rich Content Editor (RCE) and choose Upload Documents to upload a new syllabus.
4. Browse your computer to select your file or drag and drop your file.
5. Once you have selected your file, click the Submit button to see the file appear in the editor.
6. When done, click Update Syllabus.
