How Do I Get Zoom?

1. Go to https://calarts.zoom.us and click on the "Sign in" Button.

2. You can sign in with your CalArts e-mail and password on the following page.

How do I install Zoom?

Zoom can be downloaded when you start or join your first Zoom meeting. Simply follow the onscreen instructions to install the client.

How do I create a meeting using the Zoom Website?

Zoom meetings allow you and up to 99 others with or without video and even screen sharing!

From either the Zoom Meetings Screen (https://calarts.zoom.us/meeting) or the Zoom Splash Page (https://calarts.zoom.us), click on Host to create a meeting.

In the top-right corner of the screen, click on the Host a Meeting menu option.

If this is your first meeting using your current computer, Zoom may prompt you to install zoomusinstaller. Please install the software, as it is required to make conference calls.

Zoom will start your call in a separate windows with options to start or stop your video and audio. Your meeting can be joined by both telephone and computer client.

Inviting Others

Invite your attendees with either the given telephone numbers (other countries selectable) and Meeting ID (required to join).

Online attendees can join with the given Invitation URL or with the Meeting ID located at the top.

How do I create a meeting using the Zoom App?

The Zoom Application provides a simple interface with buttons to Start a Meeting with Video, without Video, Join a Meeting, Schedule a Meeting, and Share your Screen in a Meeting.

To start a meeting, simply choose "Start with video" or "Start without video".

How do I schedule a future Zoom meeting?

In the Zoom Client: Click the "Schedule" Button.

On the Zoom Website: click "Schedule a Meeting".

Enter the Topic/Meeting Title, Start Date and Time, Duration, and Time Zone.

Choose whether the host and participants will automatically start their camera.

You can still choose to start or stop your camera during the meeting, regardless of what is chosen.

Choose whether the audio is restricted to telephone-only, Zoom client-only, or both.

Select whether a password is required for the meeting.

Zoom client Only: “Click “Advanced Options”

You can select additional options appropriate for your meeting.

Alert: Make sure “Enable join before host” is selected.

Client Only: Choose which Calendar this meeting will sync to.

Click “Schedule” on the client or “Save” on the website.

Website Only: Select which Calendar this meeting will be added to

What is a Pro account and how do I get one?

Pro users gain the following benefits in addition to the Basic level features:

  • Unlimited meeting duration for all meeting sizes (Free users have 40 min. limit for group meetings of 3+)
  • Advanced meeting controls, such as recording and notification.
  • Option to create a custom Personal Meeting ID
  • Assign a scheduler to create your meetings for you (Scheduler must have a Pro account as well)
  • 1 GB of storage for recording (can be played online or downloaded)

 

What About the Cost?

A regular Pro Zoom account is $179.88 per account, per year.

A CalArts Pro Zoom account is $90.00 per account, per year.

Please be aware that CalArts Zoom account costs are not pro-rated  through the year. That means an account purchased now costs the same  as an account purchased next June, and both would renew in November of  2018.

Call-Out and Global Toll-Free call fees are not included in this pricing and are available at $0.08 per minute, per caller.
