FileCloud Desktop on macOS runs as a menu-bar app. You do not need to keep its dashboard visible, but the FileCloud client must remain running and signed in to sync. Do not choose Exit while a sync is in progress; FileCloud documents that Exit closes the app.
Check sync status
- Look for the FileCloud icon in the macOS menu bar. Rotating arrows on the icon indicate that FileCloud Desktop is syncing.
- Open the dashboard from the menu-bar icon and check the Live or Activity view for current or recent file activity.
- Wait for activity to finish before choosing Exit.
For folders you need available on your Mac, open Finder > FileCloud folder, right-click the folder, and choose Quick Actions > Make available offline. FileCloud downloads it into the offline folder and synchronizes changes. Download Now is different: a file downloaded that way is not placed in the synced offline folder, and edits to it are not synced back to FileCloud.
If syncing is not happening, confirm FileCloud Desktop is open, signed in, and connected to the internet. Check the Activity view, available disk space, and whether the affected folder is available offline. Avoid deleting or moving local FileCloud data to troubleshoot. If it still does not sync, submit a CAIT ticket with your macOS version, FileCloud Desktop version, the affected folder type, and what the menu-bar icon or Activity view shows. Do not include passwords or private file contents.
