Check Out Adapters, Chargers, Monitors, and AV Equipment

CalArts IT provides short-term checkout equipment for current students, faculty, and staff. Available items may include adapters, chargers, monitors, and select AV equipment.

Checkout equipment is available based on inventory and may not be available for every request.

Eligibility

Adapters, chargers, monitors, and AV equipment may be checked out by current CalArts students, faculty, and staff.

Some items may require additional approval depending on the request, availability, and intended use. Monitors require special approval before checkout.

Requesting Equipment

To request checkout equipment, submit a request through the Service Catalog.

Requests are reviewed based on:

  • The item being requested
  • Availability
  • The intended use
  • The expected checkout period
  • Any approval requirements

Submitting a request does not guarantee that the requested equipment will be available.

Pickup

Approved checkout equipment can be picked up from IT Customer Care / Help Desk.

Please wait until your request has been reviewed and approved before coming to pick up equipment.

Checkout Period

Most equipment may be checked out for up to 2 weeks.

The approved return date will be provided as part of the request process or at pickup.

Renewals

Renewals are available by approval only.

To request a renewal, you should either:

  • Reply to your existing ticket before the return date
  • Visit IT Customer Care / Help Desk before the return date

Renewals depend on inventory, demand, and the reason for the continued need. A renewal is not guaranteed.

Returning Equipment

Checkout equipment must be returned to IT Customer Care / Help Desk by the approved return date.

Before returning equipment, please:

  • Return all included cables, chargers, adapters, and accessories
  • Make sure the item is clean and in the same condition it was checked out
  • Remove any personal files, settings, or account information from devices that store data

Late Returns

If equipment is not returned by the approved return date, IT will follow up with the borrower.

Late returns may affect future checkout eligibility.

Lost, Damaged, or Unreturned Equipment

Borrowers are responsible for returning all checked-out equipment and accessories in good condition.

If equipment is lost, damaged, or not returned, charges may apply based on the actual replacement or repair cost.

For students, the individual borrower may be charged through an Accounting hold.

For faculty and staff, the borrowers department or school may be charged.

Availability

Checkout equipment is available based on current inventory. During high-demand periods, IT may not be able to fulfill every request.
