Residence Devices and Personal Wi-Fi Equipment: What Is Supported

Use the correct CalArts wireless network for each device. Personal routers, wireless extenders, and unauthorized access points are not permitted because they can disrupt campus service.

Choose the right network

• CalArts WiFi: Use this network for computers, phones, tablets, and other standard CalArts devices.
• CalArtsGuest: Use this network for visitors who do not have a CalArts account.
• CalArts Special: Use this network for supported smart devices and gaming systems that cannot use the normal CalArts WiFi sign-in process.

Unsupported personal network equipment

Do not connect or operate a personal wireless router, access point, repeater, or Wi-Fi extender on the CalArts network. These devices can interfere with campus wireless service.

Before requesting help

1. Confirm which network the device is using.
2. Restart the device and record any error message.
3. When contacting CAIT, include the device type and model, building and room, network name, and when the problem occurred.
