Acceptable Use Policy: Special “Emerging Technologies” Addendum

Users are responsible for the content they generate or disseminate using AI tools, regardless of the source. This includes verifying accuracy, addressing biases, and ensuring the output does not violate intellectual property of others. This means the AI tool itself is not a shield for accountability, which is particularly important for academic integrity (e.g., factual errors in assignments) and professional conduct (e.g., biased administrative communications).

Users will not input confidential, restricted, or sensitive institutional information into generative AI tools unless the tool has been specifically approved for such use and appropriate safeguards are in place. This includes FERPA-protected student data, proprietary research, unpublished creative works, and personally identifiable information.
