Workstations that are managed by IT are affected by our patch and application management standards. We enforce a core set of standard programs on our Windows computers and have a regular patch schedule both both Windows and OSX.
Standard Applications (Windows)
- Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
- Firefox ESR
- Chrome
- Silverlight
- Flash
- Java
- Adobe Reader
- Silverlight
Our inventory system is set to automatically install these programs and regularly check for, and apply, updates.
Patch Schedules
Mac and Windows workstations are set to update every Thursday at 1pm. During this time a window will appear in the lower right hand corner of the screen asking for permission to apply updates. These requests are snoozable, but not cancelable. You will be notified when the process is complete, but oftentimes a reset is necessary to complete the process.
CalArts IT utilizes Dell KACE to manage security patches, but feel free to contact us if you think something isn't quite right with the patching process.
