If you have already applied for a computing kit through the School of Film/Video, you do not need to apply for the Laptop Loaner Program, as a laptop will already included in your kit.
To aid students with remote education during the COVID-19 pandemic, CalArts has launched a Laptop Loaner Program. During the 2020-21 academic year, the Institute will loan a limited number of laptops at no additional cost to students who need it. There are eligibility requirements and a refundable deposit will be required for a laptop loan.
ELIGIBILITY
- All full-time CalArts students residing in the continental U.S. during the Fall 2020 semester are eligible to apply for a laptop loan.
- Part-time students are not eligible for a laptop loan.
- Students residing outside the continental U.S. during Fall 2020 are not eligible for a laptop loan because we are unable to ship laptops outside of the continental U.S.
- There will be no exceptions to eligibility requirements.
LAPTOP LOANS
The Laptop Loaner program includes a MacBook Pro with the option to download Adobe Creative Suite. Laptops will be loaned for the academic year and must be returned to CalArts by May 21st, 2021, or immediately upon withdrawal. It may be returned at any time during the academic year if it is no longer needed. A USD $200 refundable deposit will be required.
You must apply for a laptop loan. Your application will be reviewed and you will receive an email with your approval status. If you are approved, there will be a link to pay the refundable deposit. You will receive a confirmation email after you pay the deposit that will detail the next steps including pick up for local students or shipping for non-local students residing in the continental U.S.
