Academic Resources and Guidelines

During this transition to online learning, several departments are collaborating and combining resources in an effort to provide as much academic resources and guidance to our students as possible.

This guide is intended to point students in the right direction depending on individual academic needs.

If you know of a helpful resource not listed below, please let us know by sending a quick email to cait@calarts.edu!

Hardware and Other Requirements

If there are requirements for a class in which students need supplies, hardware or other equipment, please consult with your instructor first on alternative assignments or solutions.

In an effort to get essential technology and supplies in the hands of students in need, we encourage individuals facing unique circumstances pertaining to technology needs to contact cait@calarts.edu.

Software Availability during Remote Instruction

The Film schools' 2pop.calarts.edu contains an up to date list of educational discounts including software solutions available to our students during remote instruction as well as procedures and contacts for getting setup.

Online Conferencing and Communications

Zoom is the official video conferencing platform used at CalArts. However, since Zoom is limited to 40-minute meetings for non "Pro" accounts we would also like to offer Google Meet as a free alternative for students to use.

Google Meet can be used for screen sharing and video conferencing with a maximum of up to 100 participants.

Online Support Forum

A new online support forum for students will be put in place with both staff and student workers moderating. This forum will be a place for both general and specialized technology discussion.

Example: Software installation issues and tips; workflow discussion.

You will need your CalArts email account to login to this forum.
