
Each department on campus has at least one network drive that is used to share files over the network. The guides below will walk you through the process of connecting to a network drive from your computer.

1. Connect to the CalArts VPN
If you are trying to access a network share from off-campus, you will need to make sure that you have MotionPro installed and that you are connected to the CalArts VPN. The guides below will walk you through the process of setting those up:

2. Adding Your Share
On a Mac
1. Open Finder by clicking the "face" icon on your dock.

2. Click CMD (command) + K on your keyboard to open the Connect to Server menu
3. In the blank field enter the path for the server you want to connect to. See note below.
Most network shares will follow the same naming convention. Follow the formula below to create your file path:
smb://USERNAME@ca-fp-01.calarts.edu/informationtechnology$
If you do not know the path for the file share you are trying to access, contact CAIT and we can help you determine the path to enter.
4. At the bottom left, click the + sign to add the share to your favorite servers. Drag the newly created entry to the your desktop to create a shortcut.
5. Click Connect or double click your shortcut.
6. Enter your CalArts credentials.
On a PC
1. Open your start menu (by clicking the Windows icon in the bottom left) and type This PC. Click on This PC

2. Click Computer then Map network drive

3. Choose the drive letter you would like it to be listed as. In the blank field, enter the path for the server you want to connect to. See note below.
Most network shares will follow the same naming convention. Start by entering "\\ca-fp-01.calarts.edu\" followed by your department and a $. For example the path for Information Technology would be:
\\ca-fp-01.calarts.edu\informationtechnology$
If you do not know the path for the file share you are trying to access, contact CAIT and we can help you determine the path to enter.

4. Check the Connect using different credentials box. Confirm that the Reconnect at sign in box is checked. Click Finish.
5. For the username, enter campus\ followed by your CalArts username. Check the Remember my credentials box. Enter your password and click OK.

6. You should now be connected.
