Planned Maintenance: October, 2016

Our Network Operations and Application Development teams have scheduled a number of maintenance periods of the next two weeks to ensure the continued reliability and security of the CalArts network and service infrastructure.

During these times your experience with CalArts IT servers and services will be impacted, so please review our schedule below so avoid any unexpected problems or conflicts.

Monday, October 3rd, 2016

Low Impact 8:30AM - 3:00PM PST

Affected: Financial Aid.  Legacy Financial Aid servers and services.

Completed: ~1:30PM PST

Tuesday, October 4th, 2016

Low Impact 5:00AM - 7:30AM PST

Affected: IT and Communications.  Colleague development and test servers are being updated along with our backup authentication server.  We do not forecast any impact for this maintenance period.

Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 - Postponed

Due to unforeseen circumstances this maintenance window has been postponed.  A new schedule will be sent to the community when it is available.

Medium Impact 7:00PM - 11:00PM PST

Affected: All Business Offices including Human Resources, IT, Provost, Accounting, and Facilities.  FileMaker Pro, Business Objects, Synoptix, UI, Colleague Printing, and Room Scheduling services will be unavailable during this time.  We do not anticipate any service interruption issues given the evening maintenance time period.

Saturday, October 8th, 2016

Very High Impact: 8:00AM - 5:00PM PST

Affected: All Students, Faculty, and Staff.  Authentication for CASecure and Skylight (VPN) will be affected between 8AM and 9AM PST.  Department and School fileshares (e.g. the G:\ and J:\ drives) will be unavailable.  The Hub, HubHelper, and WebAdvisor will also be unavailable.  Additionally PrintServices will be undergoing maintenance and should be considered unavailable.

We will send a completion confirmation to the community when this maintenance is completed given the severity of the impact.

Tuesday, October 11th, 2016

Low Impact 5:00AM - 7:30AM PST

Affected: This maintenance period has a limited impact scope.  Library database access will be unavailable along with two-factor authentication for Skylight, the CalArts VPN, for the duration of the maintenance period.  Communications webservers and services will also be affected, including the 24700 blog.

Wednesday, October 12th, 2016

High Impact 5:30PM - 11:00AM PST

Affected: All Students, Faculty, and Staff.  This maintenance period is required by Accounting and will last through Thursday morning.  The Hub, HubHelper, SelfService, HubTime, and the rest of Colleague-related services will be unavailable.

Due to circumstances outside of our control this maintenance window has been postponed.  A new schedule will be sent to the community when it is available.
