CalArts campus wireless has two different networks: CASecure, and CAGuest. For our Students, Faculty, and Staff community CASecure is the best, most appropriate network to use. In order to connect to CASecure one must use their CalArts credentials. The CalArts credentials login should be the same username and password used to access the HUB. If you have forgotten your CalArts credentials and need to have them reset please click here.
Connecting to CASecure on a Mac
Open your Airport (or Wi-Fi on OS X 10.7+) network list and select the CASecure from the selection. When CASecure is selected you should be prompted with a login screen. Here you will need to use your CalArts credentials.
Students and Alumni: Your username will be your first and last names with no spaces, similar to your CalArts email address. Do not include @alum.calarts.edu.
Faculty and Staff: Your username will be your first initial and last name with no spaces, similar to your CalArts email address. Do not include @calarts.edu.
After a few seconds an authentication certificate for server *.calarts.edu should pop up, select continue. You are now connected to the CASecure wireless network.
Finally, navigate to System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi (or Airport) > Advanced. Under the Wi-Fi tab you should see a Preferred Networks list. OS X uses this list of networks to find known Wi-Fi networks whenever you turn your computer on, and it starts looking for networks from the top of that list. So, in order to save some time (and potential headache) we recommend finding the CASecure network and dragging it to the top. Once this has been done the CASecure network will automatically connect when you are on campus!
Connecting to CASecure in Windows
Windows computers are now much easier to get connected to CASecure with the implementation of our new wireless certificate!
The first step is to open your Wi-Fi list and connect to the CAsecure wireless network.
You will then be prompted with a Windows Security notification to accept the wireless certificate, hit Connect.
Lastly enter in your CalArts credentials and click OK.
You are now connected to the CASecure wireless network!
Connect to CASecure on mobile devices
Most cell phones and handheld devices should be fairly simple to get on the wireless. Just find CASecure on in the list of available wireless networks and, when prompted, enter in your CalArts Credentials.
Your device may prompt you to accept a certificate from *.calarts.edu, this is normal. You will need to accept the certificate, but once you do you should be online!
For Android devices just type your username in the Identity field, leave Anonymous Identity blank, and your CalArts Credentials password in the Password field. The two encryption options should be selected automatically as PEAP and MSCHAP V2.
If you have any other questions or are still not able to connect to CASecure feel free to bring your laptop or device by the IT office and we would be happy to take a look at it!
